  True Fairies the Faery

Often called the true fairies the faery are the leaders of the realm of the faery and are masters of the mortal realms as will. For the Faery are powerful and mutable beings changing in form and power based both on their surroundings and their ever changing moods. For the Faeries mood can change as though they where at a feast and each emotion where a new food for them to consume. Still however they can only consume that which they are surrounded by, so in this they do have some limitation, although such limitations are minimal, for the faery can develop great powers to manipulate and alter their surroundings to their whims. For all faeries have either 7 or 3 major powers with which to alter the world around them, these powers have few if any limits and change according the the whims and desires of the faery, and the surroundings in which the faery finds themselves.
Because they are effected by their surroundings faery will alter to fit human conceptions and perceptions, in fearful lands with dark and ancient forests the faery can in turn be dark and surreal creatures, haunting the woods that the mortals fear. Still in other lands and times when faery are considered fun loving and beautiful the faery can become strange whimsical and exoticly beautiful creatures. In this way the faery seem to exist like a dream that both controls and is controlled by the thoughts of the mortals where they live.

faery seem to rule the land of fairy in much the same way mortals rule the material world. This is to say that they often grow to become the most powerful beings and their numbers are such that it is impossible for any other fey to challenge them. When one talks of fairy courts one typically talks of something ruled by the faery, with lesser courts for other fey branching out from these. For this reason most of the Fairy royalty and nobility are faery.

faery on the material Plane are very skilled and magical but have very few hit points. They are the silent spirits that cause ones coffee to spill, create forest fires, change the colors of the leaves, inspire frustration and happiness. For faery are Mutable creatures changing forms and powers with their moods, and seemingly random personality changes.

Greater Faery can cast 7 spells at will, which ones depend on their ever changing moods, and so just as their form their powers very greatly

Lesser Faery however may only cast 3 spells at will.

For the Faery's magic is such that it follows their strongest whims and desires, at times such whims form into long lasting moods in which case a new subtype is formed. In most cases their moods are short lived, and impossible to predict.

An example of a day in the life of faery could be as follows

Ilthissisiziszacan Started out the day as a quite and calm creature with 7 HD, she flutters around filling peoples heads with the fuzzy feeling, making them dread their day and causing them to wish they where still asleep. In this form she can cast Emotion, Confusion, Etherealness, sleep, forget, and daze

Later as the heat of the day excites her she will become a 5 HD fey and have the power of wild fire, as a fire spirit. She will be able to control fire, cast fire wall, cast greater fireball, Gust of Wind, Wall of Smoke, Haste, and fire shell.

However as the fire begins to die down and the evening comes on the chasing of the animals and people will have given her a thrill so she will then become a hunter for the wild hunt. In this form she has 14 HD and the following powers Greater Planner Ally (to call a hunting party to her most fey, and faery but some demons, night hags, and ghosts), Accuracy, mass ray of enfeeblement, fear, locate creature, power word stun, empower arrow making cause 6d6 damage.

Half faery

Half faery have 3 powers, though in most cases they do not know it. These powers in this case are completely tied to their personality and profession. A lazy farm hand for example could become invisible when he sleeps, cause all the plants he touches to be healthier, and could cast charm person when he is in trouble.

A street urchin would be able to cast invisibility, gain a +10 to pick pocket checks, and cast expedius retreat.

A wealthy merchant might cast detect value, suggestion, and charm person.

None of this would be done consciously, it would simply happen and in many cases the half-faery wouldn’t know that it is happening. Some half-faery learn who they are, and so they begin to learn to control their natural powers as a feat/skill

Forms of Faery

Despite being difficult to pen down there are still many common forms of faery just as their are more common dreams or foods within the infinity variety that is possible. A few of these faery are listed below

Lesser faery
Dreams and Nightmares
As we sleep we are vulnerable to the powers of the faery like no other time, because of this many of the lesser faery choose to manipulate mortal emotions during the night. Such dreams can either be to cause emotions in mortals or they can be to cause mortals to believe that this dream is prophesying something that needs to be done, in order to get a mortal or a group of mortals to engage in some action. Often times such faery will be working in a group with many other forms of faery to manipulate whole societies.

Confusion
Lost thoughts, deja vu, quirky actions, and forgotten purposes can all be signs that the faery are at work, for many faery love to watch humans wander in confusion, love to see the bewilder expressions that mortals have as they try to figure out what is happening.

Quick infatuation
Mortals often feel a sudden infatuation for someone they would almost never be interested in, an infatuation that passes almost as fast as it comes. Such infatuations are often caused by the most whimsical forms of faery. These little creatures love to make mortals do silly things, and could also be responsible for causing them to say the wrong thing, or could encourage them do something embarrassing.

Trip and accident
These faery are actually more rare then most mortals assume, as their place is often taken by sprites, pixies, and the like. However these faery do exist, delighting in causing mortal misshapes. Such misshapes are rarely harmful, except for a few bruises, a broken object, or a an wounded pride.

Ruined Items
Stains on cloths and carpets, run marks in couches are not uncommon, however they can also be signs of fairy and faery activity, for the faery that ruin items rarely ever work alone, normally they spring into being when a group of sprites begins to play pranks on mortals. Such pranks lead to the emotions that can cause faery to begin a campaign of wanton destruction. Luckily the damage is normally only to minor objects and rarely ever to mortals directly. Yet at times a faery will become more and more violent, especially in situations where there is a lot of anxiety in a home.

Sharp Pains
These faery find delight in watching a mortals reaction and feeling their emotions when a part of their body has a sudden pain from sharp joint pains to sudden headaches. Such faery normally appear during times of anxiety. Other times they will appear in a village where many have reason for pain, drawn by the emotions pain causes to those who are not feeling such emotions or pains..

Flash of emotions
Whimsical in the extreme these faery are normally the truly bored unable to get what they want they work harder to create it by trying to force a mortal to take on a specific set of emotions. These can be sudden flashes of anger, joy, surprise, or saddness. Often time these emotions are unexplainable, coming and going in a powerful rush and leaving everyone wondering what happened.

There are also oppositions to all forms of faery, as often as someone gets a stain that won't come out from a faery, they have stain that shouldn't have come out get removed. Other times they prevent someone from tripping or give humans some form of clairity. Againt faery are not good or evel they are instead very emtionally differnt from mortals.

Greater Faery

Blights
Perhaps one of the best known of faery because of how greatly feared they are by those who believe most strongly in fairies these faery blight crops, cows, and all the works of mortals. However as with all things faery  these creatures are just as likely to help make a harvest good as to destroy a crop.

The Fear in the woods
In some of the darker lands mortals gain such a strong fear of an idea or a region that this fear begins to manifest itself. Such fears are often of the woods, where a faery forms that causes dark things to begin to happen from driving wolves mad to causing mortals to get lost, or even to take the form of dark witches and forest demons these faery are truly tarrifying and could be the source of many dangers and troubles for regions and the PC's hired to eliminate them.

Forest fires and natural disasters
Few things enspire so many emotions as a natural disaster; fear, sorrow, loss, and more a natural disaster causes distruction death and changes everything. Faery enjoy such events and so will often times become them. Being the fire that rages through a city or woodland or the tidelwave that sweeps through the streets these faery are powerful and dangerous forces that only the most experianced of PC's will even be able to truly encounter.

Seasons
Although Faery rarely have the power to change the seasons such that spring becomes fall instead or summer becomes winter they can make these seasons last longer or shorter then they normally would have. Faery can also use the seasons to create their art painting frost, or altering the leaf colors to their wishes these faery are truly tied to the beauty of nature.

Muse
Some Faery become insperations to mortals, helping them creat great works of music, art, or even helping some mortals rule a country, plan a battle and more. For the Faery muse inspiring mortals to greatness is dependent on mood and so such insperations can come and go between rivels.

Love and true emotions
Their are great and powerful faery that take a real interest in the way mortals feel and so begin working to cause mortals to feel these emotions.

The faery's true power comes from their ties to faery magic, unlike any mortal creature the faery seem to be part of the fairy stream of magic, and so can manipulate it as easily as a mortal might breath or feel. Within the faery world the strange form of faery magic makes up all things so the faery's already increadable powers grow even more as nothing seems to limit what they can do.
