Stone age Demonologists and Devilists
When mortals first came into being they found themselves in a dark world facing many enemies, in this world they came to respect might above all else and those few demons and devils that walked upon the face of the earth where indeed mighty. At first these creatures where uninterested in the new and weak creatures that had come to walk on the planet with them. It was likely a devil who first noticed that the soul that throbbed within each of these flimsy shells was different from the animal shells, for unlike those it had the capacity to become anything once it cast off its shell. And so it was that the devil began to change these some halfling souls into devils for his army, so that he could rise though the ranks of the eternal blood war. With his sudden rise in power it did not take long for the other demons and devils to follow the first devils lead, as they began offering protection to the mortals in return for their souls upon their death. And so the most barbaric and brutish humans came to live on the planet. Those who worship demons In later years it will be hard for any mortals to imagine the horror of true demon worshiping people, although many people who worship spirits or different gods will be accused of worshiping people by enemies attempting to dehumanize them, there will never again be a people who worship chaos and evil in such large numbers. In the time of stone and bronze those who follow the path of evil chaos live in caves and burrows, feasting on the flesh of all creatures which they kill, they owe no permanent allegiance, living where they choose and following the one who is the strongest in their burrow. Their tribes are made of barbarians and Demonologists. Most of their number have at least some demon blood coursing through their veins evidence of a painful and horrifying union of worlds. Among these people walk demons, sent by the princes of the abyss to command the mortals, making them attack both the serpents of the devils, and of the angles in the lands beyond their borders. Beyond their fear of the demons and of those more powerful then them there is no order among these people, no unity, and little love. They build no structures other then burrows, and simple leantos, they wonder endlessly from location to location, in groups much the same as herd animals, and they show as little care for the others among them as herd animals do. For they only care briefly for their mates, and children, only in so much as each child raised to the age where its soul may be harvested by the demons is another favor the parents may ask of their dark lords. Most Demonologists are horrifficly scared as they attempt to make themselves look as much like the demons who the follow as possible. It is sad to think that their ancestors chose this life in order to be safe from the evil things of the world, only for their children to find that this life is more horrifying then anything the outside world could bring. Their minds however are normally so twisted that there is no escape for them. Stone Age Demonologists in the game It would be very difficult and not likely so exciting to play a true Demonologists, although one could play a Demonologists who managed to escape that life or who has left the tribe to explore the wider world for their demon master. It is more likely however that the characters will encounter the Demonologists as an enemy, for the Demonologists will often be forced to raid neighboring nations by their masters, or individual ddemonologists will begin to sneak into villages for food and the pleasure of causing pain among its inhabitants. The PC's might be attacked in any of these raids, or they might travel unknowingly into Demonologists lands becoming objects of prey for the inhabitants within, or they might be asked by a village to hunt down specific Demonologists lords that have grown more troublesome. Stone and Bronze age Devilists in the game. Devilists advance in technology and knowledge much faster then Demonologists because of their lawful and ordered nature. However as they are run by tyrants the devils and the lead mortals among the devilists hinder the development of talents among their people. Devilist governments are highly structured, building organized housing and city systems, as will as complex forms of government. These forms of government are structured for two purposes, first to provide wealth for those on top, and second to make the people within them so evil that the devils will easily be able to obtain their souls upon their deaths. It is this latter point that makes these societies so different from other tyrannical societies, for the goal of the devils societies is truly to spread and cause evil throughout the world. The Devilist society is teared and structured to provide wealth and power to those who either commit the most evil acts (within the bezar and often confusing laws), or those who bring new allies or destroy old enemies. The later of these involves the complex schemes and plots, to take over more kingdoms, capture slaves who are then integrated into the societies lowest tiers, or to kill and destroy people who oppose the devilists most especially the Demonologists and the angleologists. Devilists within the game Evil PC's could likely Play or at least work with devilists, for their structured society is geared towards supporting evil adventures, those who can go out into the world and amass wealth and eliminate opposition while furthering lawful evil goals. Even good PC's could find themselves working for a devilist unknowingly for these groups will often hire outsiders to help them kill Demonists, orcs, gnolls, and other creatures which could hinder their goals, and increase the power of their enemies. Good PC's are most likely to find themselves at odds with the devilists however, as these groups will set up colonies all over the world to try to take power and enslave the peoples of a region. When this happens the PC's could be sent to destroy a colonize, or find themselves in a war between the devilists and their own homeland. They could also be asked to find and destroy devilists that are building plots within the region, finally a good character could inadvertently make themselves the enemies of the devilists, by killing one of their members, hindering their goals, or helping their enemies. When the PC's become the enemies of the devilists they will find themselves the targets of foul magic and evil assassins. Unlike Demons who have free for all on the material world and with mortals, such that any powerful enough to do so may try to garner power from the material realm the devils have appointed rulers to try to gather power from the material, these rulers then sell portions of this power to the Dukes of the Layers or to any devil able to buy it.
