Rat Mage

 Rat Mages are wizards or sorcerers who have developed unique powers due to their constant exposure to danger, fear and evil.

The Rat Mage can be a mortal or a fiend who was forced to hide from the dark powers so long and in such dire ways that they have become cowardly fearful creatures. Rat mage’s skulk in the darkness always hiding jumping at shadows and fleeing from the least bit of danger. Their fear has given them unique powers, honing their magical abilities so that they become masters of escaping and hiding.

Further their experiences have made them always crave the dark places, while sympathizing with those trapped in them. For this reason The Rat Mage's will always find their way into the evil lands that scare them so much and help prisoners of these lands escape.

At the same time this attraction to the darkness and the fear of others will cause the Rat Mage to lead one of the most lonely existences of any other. For it is a rare few who will ally with a coward in the dark places of the world.

Requirments
Ability to cast leve 2 Arcane Spells
Have survived for a year in a tainted place of great evil by remaining hidden.

Hidden
Because they are so used to trying to remain hidden the magic of hiding becomes natural to them, so that become undetectable to Locate Person, Scrying, or other detection spells. In addition they gain +2 to hide in shadows.

 Expedius Retreat
Whenever they are retreating the Rat Mage may cast Expediaus Retreat, whether or not it has been Prepared.

Fearfull
Rat mages are truely Fearful creatures, they are often unable to fight because of this, all rate mages gain a -5 to fear spells and effects and a -3 to morality checks and must roll a moral check every round of combat.

Sense Danger
Rat Mages are in tune with potential danger and so gain a divination effect that allows them to know when an area is or has become dangerous, so that they may flee before anything sees them.

Dimension Door
The Rat Mage can cast Dimension Door 1/day in order to escape

Great Flight
The Rat Mage can spontaniously turn any of its spells into one of an equal level that it needs to escape, in order to use this ability they must have failed a morality check and be in the process of fleeing.

 Dark Understanding
Rat Mages have lived so long in evil places that they have a special understanding of evil creatures, this gives them a +3 on all rolls involving something of evil. For example they gain a +3 to spot an evil creature or +3 to knowledge of an evil object.

Sense Magic
The Rat Mages dependice and Fear of magic has made them especially keen to its presence, because of this it is as though they always have a detect magic spell on them.

Secret Paths
The Rat Mage is particularly adapt at finding hidden paths, or knowing where they are. Becasue of this they can travel in such a way that they gain +3 to hide and move silently checks and are very unlikely to encounter danger. So that they may travel through the Abyss if needed with relativilty little danger. This ability is only usable in places where this is enough room to have secret paths, it may not work in tight castle corridors for instance.

Sense Good and Evil
The Rat Mage Detects good and evil as spells.

Unsensable
The Rat Mage has developed the true ability to become undetectable, so long as they choose to remain hidden and don't plan to attack, their invisability spells are not subject to dispel, or any form of penetration.

 Dark Secrets
True scholars of the darkness the rat mage learns things few others know and may take one evil feat without having it affect their allignment. They may also cast evil spells.

Walk Between Reality
The Rat Mage has truely become unnatral in her ability to slip in and out of places, being able to move between places in reality to hide even from the Powers, to walk through walls. Though these paths in reality are thin and so while common there are limits to exactly where the rat mage may walk on them.
For example such breaks in reality might only occur on average 5 feet for every 100 feet of space. Longer paths are possable, and some have reached miles in length, this is what allowed the Rat Mage Zervican to slip into a dark gods home to free a captured god of light.

Uncatchable
The Rat Mage is truely a master of magic used for retreating. With this ability the Rat mage may cast anything that he needs to in order to escape without taking up spell slots. During this time however the rat mage must retreat as much as possable in each round.
